TEEF Vitae+ works through the oral microbiome. It specifically strengthens the ‘good’ bacteria, displaces harmful bacteria and thereby helps to break down plaque – the basis of tartar. When the animal drinks, the solution spreads throughout the mouth, even if it swallows quickly.

Our prebiotic formula weakens the bad bacteria in the mouth in four ways to balance the healthy oral microbiome. This balance promotes stronger teeth, healthy gums and fresh breath. 

The soluble fibres prevent the bacteria from absorbing dietary sugar, so they cannot turn it into acid and plaque. The vitamin enables the health-promoting bacteria to consume proteins instead of sugar, producing healthier (i.e. less acidic and inflammatory) by-products. The potassium bicarbonate neutralises salivary acid, resulting in a less destructive environment in the mouth. Finally, the amino acid acts as a plaque disruptor, helping to remove existing dental biofilm (plaque and tartar) from the teeth for stronger, whiter teeth. And the best part? This shift or balance in the oral microbiome leads to MUCH BETTER PROTECTION!

Only in a very few isolated cases have we been told that dogs were initially somewhat hesitant to drink water with TEEF Vitae+.
Dogs have the intelligence of a 3- to 4-year-old child and, just like children, can react with distrust or scepticism when they notice that their owners have added something to their water.
This behaviour is completely natural, as dogs are very sensitive to changes in their environment and notice when something is different from usual.  Some dogs respond by avoiding the water at first, even if it is tasteless and odourless.

A long-standing customer from Bern, Switzerland, had this problem at the very beginning too, and she stood firm until the dogs gave in and drank the water.
Today they drink the water without any problems, the customer is very satisfied, and her dogs’ dental health is EXCELLENT.

The slight yellowish discolouration of the water is due to an adjusted concentration of riboflavin (vitamin B2), which naturally has a yellowish colour.
This change is completely normal and harmless, as vitamin B2 plays a very essential role in supporting the healthy bacteria in the mouth.
TEEF Vitae+ remains completely odourless and tasteless.

How noticeable it is depends, among other things, on water quality, bowl material and the incidence of light – with no effect on efficacy.

No, because we care for the oral biome (rather than ‘treating the body’), the dosage does not depend on weight or size: 0,1g per animal per day.

You can certainly try that, but we cannot guarantee that it will be just as effective. Animals normally eat 1-2 times a day (and swallow quite quickly). The key to success is taking the daily dose through drinking, as this allows the ingredients to spread easily throughout the mouth. In this way, the oral microbiome is continuously improved for better oral health.

For the best results, we recommend use through drinking water. Alternatives (e.g. a pipette/spray bottle or mixing TEEF Vitae+ with a little liquid, such as bouillon, soup or milk) are possible if it is difficult to manage the animal’s drinking.

What matters is that the animal drinks all the water containing TEEF and thus actually takes in the daily dose. Whether that is in 50ml, 250ml, 500ml or 1 litre makes no difference – what matters is taking in the full daily amount.

Yes, it works just as well in a drinking fountain.

Our fine ingredients are not filtered out (except by an activated carbon filter – which filters everything); the only important thing is that there are enough ingredients in the water.

The amount of water is not relevant; what matters is how often you refill the fountain.
For example, if you refill the drinking fountain with fresh water every 2 days, for 1 animal we would recommend adding 2-3 spoonfuls of TEEF Vitae+. If you refill it every third day, add 3-4 spoonfuls.
Simply calculate 1-2 spoonfuls per day and per animal.

Yes, in many cases existing tartar can gradually loosen with consistent use, because the bacterial biofilm (its foundation) is destabilised and plaque is broken down.

However, if periodontal disease, deep gum pockets or problems with tooth roots are already present, oral care alone is no longer enough – veterinary treatment is then necessary.

TEEF Vitae+ acts mainly locally in the mouth (through the oral microbiome / saliva) and is not metabolised ‘like a medicine’.

That is why it is also used in practice for many animals with chronic conditions (e.g. epilepsy, heart problems, kidney failure, IBD, allergies, MDR-1) – there are no known contraindications or interactions with medicines.

All our ingredients are recognised as safe and have been tested in humans and animals with many illnesses for over 40 years, and there are no known contraindications. 

6g is enough for up to 60 uses (≈ 2 months for 1 animal at the recommended daily dose).

Ideally, each animal receives its own daily dose so that its intake is assured. If several animals drink from one bowl or one animal is severely affected, a second method has proved effective: administer it directly into the mouth with a pipette or spray bottle. This application is particularly effective in critical areas (e.g. back teeth) that the drinking water may not always ‘reach’ as well.

Our prebiotic formula contains neither calcium nor oxalates nor vitamin C compounds and does not affect mineral metabolism; it acts mainly in the mouth and has no effect on urine composition or stone formation.

Bladder stones in dogs are usually caused by an improper diet and/or insufficient fluid intake. They can also be caused by urinary tract infections or liver dysfunction.

Some pets with a more sensitive gastrointestinal tract may have softer stools because of the soluble fibres in our product.

This is not a harmful reaction; dietary fibre simply makes stools softer and bulkier.

Tip: For sensitive animals, start with half the dose and increase it gradually after a few days. If the symptoms are severe or persist, please pause use and consult a veterinarian.
